A Moodle payment plugin can be installed in an afternoon. So why does a Kano Store launch take 6 to 12 weeks?
Because installing software is the easy part. A store that sells to members, employers and the public needs prices agreed, tax set up correctly, a payment account approved, every product linked to the right course, and every buying path tested before a real customer uses it. Most of the time goes on decisions and testing, not code. Here is the typical shape of a project. Your own plan and dates are agreed at kick-off.
Discovery: about two weeks
- Kick-off call with your team and ours
- Who buys, how they pay, and which prices each group sees
- Catalogue: which courses, bundles and subscriptions you will sell
- Tax: where you are registered and what you need on invoices
- Payment processor: keep your existing one or open a new account
- Branding, domain and languages
You supply: a product list, price rules, tax details, brand assets and a decision-maker.
Build: about three weeks
- Storefront set up with your brand and domain
- Catalogue loaded and each product linked to its Moodle or Totara course
- Customer groups and pricing, coupons and bundles configured
- Company accounts, seat blocks and purchase-order checkout, if you sell to organizations
- Tax rules, currencies and payment gateway connected in test mode
- Order and invoice emails written in your voice
Testing: about two weeks
Your team buys from the store as each type of customer: a member, a non-member, a company paying by PO, someone using a coupon. Every order must enrol the right person in the right course, charge the right tax and produce the right invoice. Refunds and seat reassignment are tested too.
You supply: testers who know your customers, and sign-off.
Launch Your Kano Store: Final Checks and Go-Live
- Payments switched to live
- A real low-value test order placed and refunded
- Store opened to customers, announcement sent
Settling in
We watch the first weeks of orders closely, fix anything unexpected and train your administrators to run promotions, add products and manage company accounts themselves.
What makes it faster or slower

| New store | Migrating from another store |
The short version
A plugin gets a payment button on a course. A go-live gets you a store you can trust with your revenue on day one. If you are working to a deadline, such as a conference or a new program, tell us at the start and we will plan backwards from it.
